This week’s blog is inspired by Tamsin de Roemer’s 3 year old daughter, the beautiful Lula, on holiday from her pre-school. Even 3 year olds have a vision of the world they live in. She, along with many other little ladies, adores the Disney princesses and most especially CINDERELLA!

Flicking through the Sunday Times Magazine a couple of weekends ago she came across pictures of some of her Disney heroines interpreted in a modern war-torn world. A thought provoking and heart wrenching concept… beauty in striff. Here are some photos taken by her of the subjects she found.Yes, really!

The pictures above were originally taken by Dina Goldstein who were also inspired by her three-year-old daughter’s obsession with Disney! Subsequently, we were keen to find some more images and fashion inspired by fairytales in the modern world. We found these wonderful pictures taken by Eugenio Recuenco. Evocative, wistful, solitary and slightly melancholy yet beautiful and strong.

It seems that even an impressionable small girl, can be influential!!…We found more exceptional fashion by one of the greats. Just have a look at Mr McQueen’s A/W 09 collection…Dramatic fairy tale fashion by one of the masters.

His shows manage to create an impressive and articulate fantasy land. He consistently provides us with an extraordinary array of strikingly theatrical and emotional effects which would impress any budding ‘Grimm’ writer as well as offering us a remarkable selection of ‘fashion’.

This could be the start of something big…we love fairytales as there is a child within us all…perhaps even a gothic child!
