The day before the annual ball, organised and hosted by Anna Wintour, to raise money for the museum, a dedicated room was opened and it was named the Anna Wintour Costume Centre at the Metropolitan Museum in NY!! The ribbon was cut by her friend and first Lady, Michelle Obama who looked resplendent as ever in a green brocade and cream dress with co-ordinated green jewels.  Anna Wintour looked elegant and emotional showing her softer side and obvious pride at the honour bestowed on her in recognition of her achievements in fashion and by helping to raise a ton of cash for the museum.

The next day saw the cabaret that is the Met Ball and at $25,000 a ticket you would expect a proper do!! I for one am very happy to gently peruse the images of all the glitterati with a smattering of amusement and pick out my favourite outfits. Apparently Madonna was shunned by Miss Wintour when she revealed that she intended to attend the gala wearing bandages!!! Hmmmm, I wonder what double entendre was meant there!?

Anna Wintour in Chanel, Cara Delevingne in Stella McCartney,

Gisele Bundchen in Balenciaga & Alexa Chung in Nina Ricci.

Karolina Kurkova in Marchesa S/S 11 & $1 million worth of Harry Winston diamonds, Suki Waterhouse in Burberry,

Karen Elson & Emmy Rossum in Carolina Herrera.

Mario Testino & Stella Tennant both in Burberry, Florence Welsh in Valentino,

Katie Holmes in Marchesa A/W 14 & Lily Aldridge in Michael Kors.

Kate Upton in Dolce & Gabbana, Kate Bosworth in Stella McCartney,

Lily Donaldson in Burberry & Naomi Watts in Givency Haute Couture by Riccardo Tisci.

And great fun was had by all, lovely….!

‘Inspired by a recent exhibition of his photographs, we thought that you might enjoy a little reminder of some of the work by the great man himself, Norman Parkinson.

I am reading Grace Coddington’s biography at the moment,,  a lady of some substance within the fashion world.  She herself was a Parkinson model and has many fond memories of the work that they did together, initially as a model and subsequently as a Vogue stylist and creative director.  The book is a great insight into the small world of fashion and is especially enjoyable, when like myself, you have played some part in it!

We are following Parkinson’s photography with a modern master, David Sims by following a similar mood in colour, texture and shape, unsurprisingly the story shot by Sims is styled by the great lady herself Grace Coddington!’
