The HP Influencers Advisers Board

What a blast Cannes was this year! I feel incredibly privileged to be part of HP’s Influencers Advisors Board which has met at the Film Festival for the last two years for four days of brainstorming, tech smoozing, red carpeting and generally being spoiled by the giant that is HP.

3

Tony Hughes, Miggy Gibbs and Justin Packshaw

HP are one of the principle sponsors of the whole event so we get to have a very lucky insight into it all. All the glitz is great fun and we managed to see the showing of La Vie D’Adele, which went on to win the Palme d’Or – a truly extraordinary film for no other reason than the sublime and brave acting from the two leads which is quite breath-taking.

Justin Packshaw, Tony Hughes and Chris Mclennan

However for me, the icing on the cake, is hanging out, listening and learning from the other Board members, all of whom bring an amazing spin and insight to the technological table. What a bright, colourful and impressive lot they are.

Yasmin Mills, Callum Best, Melissa Odabash

Thank you to the gorgeous Melissa O’Malley for pulling it all together, to Page, Randall, Irv, Jean-Pierre for opening our eyes as to where this technological revolution is taking us and to the rest of the HP team for helping to make it an inspirational few days. Thanks also to the lovely Yasmin Mills for including me in more of the glamorous Film Festival craziness.

Watch this space as De Roemer is about to do something incredibly exciting with HP …….

Norman Parkinson, Grace Coddington and the World of Fashion!!

‘Inspired by a recent exhibition of his photographs, we thought that you might enjoy a little reminder of some of the work by the great man himself, Norman Parkinson.

I am reading Grace Coddington’s biography at the moment, http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2012/dec/09/grace-coddington-review-autobiography-memoir,  a lady of some substance within the fashion world.  She herself was a Parkinson model and has many fond memories of the work that they did together, initially as a model and subsequently as a Vogue stylist and creative director.  The book is a great insight into the small world of fashion and is especially enjoyable, when like myself, you have played some part in it!

We are following Parkinson’s photography with a modern master, David Sims by following a similar mood in colour, texture and shape, unsurprisingly the story shot by Sims is styled by the great lady herself Grace Coddington!’

It is traditionally a time that symbolises light, hope and new beginnings.  We thought that we would reflect a little light and air with our story below, have a great holiday….and may the force be with you!!

The Summer Pavillion for the Serpentine Gallery

dezeen_Sou-Fujimoto-to-design-Serpentine-Gallery-Pavilion-2013_ss_1The Serpentine Gallery Pavillion

Sou Fujimoto is the thirteenth person to accept the invitation to design a temporary structure for the Serpentine Gallery.

His inspiration came from organic structures, such as the forest, the nest and the cave. His signature buildings inhabit a space between nature and artificiality and  he has completed the majority of his buildings in Japan.

Occupying some 350 square-metres of lawn in front of the Serpentine Gallery,  visitors will be encouraged to enter and interact with the Pavilion in different ways throughout its four-month tenure in London’s Kensington Gardens. We think it looks amazing!

The Hayward Gallery Light Show

Light Show explores the experiential and phenomenal aspects of light by bringing together sculptures and installations that use light to sculpt and shape space in different ways.
Featuring  installations and sculptures that you can move around and even through, visitors can experience light in all of its spatial and sensory forms.

Individual artworks explore different aspects of light such as colour, duration, intensity and projection, as well as perceptual phenomena. They also use light to address architecture, science and film, and do so using a variety of lighting technologies.

Light Show features works by 22 artists.
