Soneva Fushi in the Glorious Maldives

We were lucky enough to spend some of our Christmas holidays in the Maldives at the most amazing Soneva Fushi Resort, truly the most impressive hotel we have ever stayed at.  They follow a SLOW LIFE philosophy which permeates everywhere you look on the resort and they take environmental issues and responsibilities very seriously.  Something very close to our hearts at De Roemer.

“What fun”, the only form of transport on the island!

Whilst we were there we overlapped with some very interesting guests.   Justin was delighted to meet Buzz Aldrin, the second man on the moon and to dive on the beautiful coral reef with him more than once! Buzz at the grand age of 83 was diving twice a day! We were very impressed.

There was also a rather arty group of about 15, the ‘Gathering’ as they became known.  Artists, musicians, directors, creatives and actors.  Tilda Swinton and her man, artist, Sandro Kopp were amongst them along with Michael Stipe of REM fame, to name just 3.  All terribly nice and keen to make a difference to the world as a collective and as individuals.  Known voices can travel quite a distance so we hope that their influence can have some sort of impact on our environmental issues.

It was so lovely to spend time with Sonu and Eva, the visionaries and owners of Soneva.  They really are wonderful people and they care so much about everything and all the small details as well as being hugely loved by all their staff, family and friends.

HP Connected

Being part of HP’s Influencers Advisory Board has many advantages and one of them is getting to see some fantastic musicians perform small and intimate concerts, through HP’s collaboration with Universal Music ‘Connected Music’ is the strap line. This week had the De Roemer A team heading off to Fabric to see Iggy Azalea. Great night. We love HP and we are excited about De Roemer’s upcoming collaboration with them.

Cannes Film Festival

What a blast Cannes was this year! I feel incredibly privileged to be part of HP’s Influencers Advisors Board which has met at the Film Festival for the last two years for four days of brainstorming, tech smoozing, red carpeting and generally being spoiled by the giant that is HP.

HP are one of the principle sponsors of the whole event so we get to have a very lucky insight into it all. All the glitz is great fun and we managed to see the showing of La Vie D’Adele, which went on to win the Palme d’Or – a truly extraordinary film for no other reason than the sublime and brave acting from the two leads which is quite breath-taking.

However for me, the icing on the cake, is hanging out, listening and learning from the other Board members, all of whom bring an amazing spin and insight to the technological table. What a bright, colourful and impressive lot they are.

Party May

We had a very civilised party which we co-hosted with Yasmin Mills, girl about town and all round beauty!  She came along with her gorgeous girls, Maddy and Laurie plus a number of their pretty girl friends.  Beautiful people came and went throughout the evening along with a few of our very own fabulous and extraordinarily beautiful friends.  We took a few pictures but not too many!!
