A couple of days of all people action as we shot our Spring/Summer 2012 look book and some pieces from the Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. It was good fun mixing it up with some other contributors, the stylist, Michele Rafferty and photographer, Clare Shilland. I think that we got a great result, thank you all.

Did you know that we design rugs for The Rug Company? Well now you do and it is one of the many things that we love to do! We were really excited to see that our Harem Rug was used to decorate Carrie and Mr Big’s bedroom in Sex and the City 2. Take a look at some pictures….’

Lucy Panes, our gifted illustrator, came into the shop this week to help us with our Christmas decorations and painted the sweetest Christmas fairies on our windows.

Walpole Awards for Excellence 2011

The De Roemer team went to Banqueting House in Whitehall for the 2011 Walpole Awards for Excellence, we arrived late but not late enough to miss the awards, eloquently introduced by Julia Carrick, CEO of Walpole, in the extraordinary and magnificent banqueting room. It was extremely well attended, in fact almost overflowing, so we stood, like naughty school children, at the back of the room by the bar where we were proffered champagne!

We had a great overview and most of the Walpole top team were there too including John Ayton with his wife, the jeweller Annoushka and Sarah Elton. We also saw lovely Nancy from Purple PR and spotted David Collins, infamous interior designer for the likes of J Sheekey, Wolseley, Madonna etc surrounded by young doppelgangers!

The awards were compared by our new national treasure, Hugh Bonneville, actor in Downton Abbey. Church’s Shoes, Mulberry, Victoria Beckham, who had a turnover of 27million last year! Hermes and Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen were all deserving winners.

Afterwards we mingled with the crowds as we were offered cocktails and managed to have a few words with Michael Ward, our esteemed chairman and CEO of Harrods as well as the CEO of Hermes and had a word of congratulations with Lucia Van De Post who along with Hugh Bonneville won a medal of excellence….

A Flying Visit to Arezzo

Justin and I were invited to Italy for a long week end with gorgeous Simon and his equally gorgeous wife Vero along with other very good friends. There was much hilarity , good food and wine plus a bit of a dance or two!! Great, great fun.

Savoy Benefit

Soon after returning from a well-deserved break in Ibiza Justin and I were invited to a benefit in aid of Asthma UK at the Savoy by David Hempleman-Adams. David is a well-known adventurer and explorer and was the team leader on Justin’s recent Everest expedition. Do have a look at the pictures to mark the occasion!

Hello there….yes, I know. Why has it taken so long to let you know WHAT’S GOING ON? Well… life at De Roemer has been varied to say the least. We have really been enjoying our NEW SHOP and the people and diversity that it brings. As well as a few PARTIES!! We have had a few new yummy deliveries of predominately the silk/cashmere summer weights and styles. So it’s worth coming to have a look!!.. Lots of inspiration on the jewellery and some wonderful coloured stones coming our way.

ROMANCE, with a fabulous royal wedding to inspire us to revel even more than we have been already. Any excuse will do, no; seriously we are delighted and happy for William and Kate and wish them a long and happy life together.

On the other hand we have had our most NOBLE and most LOVED director and my beloved husband absent WITH leave for 2 whole months to climb EVEREST of ALL things. The great Goddess Chomulungma opened her arms, embraced him, allowed him to summit and come down alive!! He didn’t come out of it without a few bruises, a bit of frost bite on 2 fingers, a numb foot and blackened toe nails. She is certainly no pushover!! Thank goodness he made it back home in one piece. The Ice Queen

So I suppose we must bow our heads to The Ice Queen and show you some images from NEPAL and TIBET, an extraordinary part of the world. It is the highest land mass in the world with the highest mountain, 29,029ft or 8,848mt high which is over 5 miles!!

Nepal was the first destination for our intrepid explorer, a lovely gentle place with gorgeous people as you can see by the pics, from there the team travelled to Tibet, the north side of Everest, as this was the side that they were to climb.

The Tibetans have a strong spiritual connection with turquoise and coral which have been mined in the Himalayas for centuries. They also use Conch shells as ceremonial horns. It is extraordinary, one would normally associate these glorious objects with life at sea level not with life on the roof of the world!

The Turquoise represents wisdom and spiritual growth and is most revered in its most naturalistic forms. It is also the colour of the sky which is our higher plain. Coral to them represents success and is the colour of passion, a gift from Mother Ocean to remind us of our eternal foundation.

I for one am an ocean worshipper, swimming and snorkelling in the seas and oceans that we have I cherish above all else. Hence my state of HEAVEN in Ibiza.

After the stress of my dearest darling husband being at the highest point on EARTH and climbing the highest mountain I run for the SEA, that’s me!!

From the Sublime to the Ridiculous….That’s Life!!
